what does it mean by Pre-insert SIm card?

it comes with a sim already inserted.a typical iphone activation will mean a sim transfer (at this point in time)

so you mean that we can not use any other sim which s different number? we have to use the fixed phone number of the pre-insert Sim card of iPhone?
I have a friend who is living in US, could he afford to buy an iPhone and send it to New zealand for me?

The Iphone is not availible for customers looking to upgrade or purchase without a contract. Does this mean that if i am not a new customer, or activating a new line of service that i'm SOL icon_twisted.gif icon_wacko.gif icon_cry.gif

you can upgrade but you will forfeit your former ATT plan (according to info at this point in time) and it will be a new 2 year contract if you do so

You mean.2 year extension.that's how it's typically been in the past. Upgrade early and you're extending your contract.

Rumor has it, that the sim card is not removable. That's one of those things that hasn't been proven either way, from what I have read. Now, I know that when it was initially announced, there was supposed to be a slot at the top where the sim card was to be ejected out.

the sim card is removeable but until the 29th we just dont know if it requires **that** sim.

as for having an iphone sent to New Zealand. it can be sent. but no unlock codes will be issued for **AT LEAST 2 YEARS** by cingular. I would well imagine there are people already looking at unlock methods for sale

ok the iphone sim will work in any device but you can not take a reg sim and put it into the iphone. The iphone is a edge device does not support umts. The iphone you can upgrade to but will req a new 2yr contact. Device priceing is 499.99 and 599.99, 4gb memory and 8gb memory. the plans are relaced and listed on the apple website.

This may be late, but I bought an 8gig iPhone for $399.00 last week. Yes, the SIM is removable. I haven't asked if it would go in another phone if, say, I had to send in the iPhone for repair and needed to use that SIM in a Razr.

As for upgrading, I upgraded phones back in February. I bought the iPhone with only having to agree to a new 2-year contract. I already had a data plan, all I did was change it from 200 texts to 1500.

As far as sending the iPhone to new zealand, good luck. There are specific carriers across the world that are now carrying the iPhone, such as AT&T in the US, O2, T-Mobile and Orange in Europe, Rogers in Canada and so on. It looks like if you're wanting an iPhone 3G, your best bet is to look at Vodafone. They're the only carrier of the iPhone in New Zealand that I can find.
