It's a RAZR and I found it about 2-3 months ago. I want to use it as my own because I broke my other one. Should I call Verizon? Or will I be caught doing bad. But if it is stolen I can return the phone to its previous owner right? what do you guys think?

uhhmm, well if was lost and you found it it couldn't be stolen. right?
I guess you can try, worst case scenario is that the owner did report it lost/stolen and it will be flagged. At that point you can turn the phone into a store and they will overnight the phone to the rightful owner.
In the future, if a phone is found, returning it to the store ASAP is the best option for the OTHER guy because we will get it to him and save him from a lot of trouble. and also a good option for you because of karma. Isn't that right, mr. broken phone?

if you try and change your number to that phone.you'll be caught.
each phone is assigned to a phone number. if the person who lost it got a new phone, chances are VERY LIKELY that they reported the previous as a lost phone.
so if anybody else tries to switch their number to it, verizon will recognize the claimed phone and probably make it impossible to do so. and if they never got a new phone, you won't be able to switch it as yours because it is already assigned a number.
RETURN THE DAMN PHONE BECAUSE SOMEBODY ACTUALLY SPENT MONEY ON IT AND WANTS IT BACK!

Im sure there are numbers on it that you could call to figure out who it belonged to (if not the actual owners #). If you really wanted to give it back, it would probably be pretty easy.

press clr # and that should display the phone number that was on it before. Give them a call and see if they would maybe give you a few bucks or if you can buy it from them. They can remove it from the lost, stolen list if it is indeed on their/
