The MP3 have to be shortened to about 500-600kb, and depending on which model V3 you have, the bit rate for the MP3 has to be below about 192. The V3xx can go as high as 256 bit, but most other motos max out at 192, and some possibly lower. Check the support site for your providor to get the full specs for your model.

Also, some service providors (Verizon) restricit what you can do with your phone, regardless of the features the manufacturer put in.

You can learn more about the process of converting CDs to MP3s, shortening MP3s to ringtone length, changing the bit rate, and transferring files from a PC here: cd2ringtone dot com

kendall,

Once you get the ring tone on the memory card (in the AUDIO folder), disconnect the phone from the PC, then go to My Stuff, Sounds. You should see the ring tone there. If you don't, hit the menu key and chose Switch Storage Devices, choose Memory Card. Now it shoudl be there. Highlight it, then hit the Menu key. Look for the MOVE commmand. Select Move, and it will ask you were to move it to, chose Phone. If it's the right size and format, it will automatically move it to the AUDIO folder in your phones internal memory that holds the ring tones. Then go to Settings/Audio/Detail/Calls, and it should appear in the list of ring tones.

Kendall,

Sorry, I misread your last question.

If your PC does not recognize the phone when you plug it in with the USB cable, unplug it. On your phone go to Settings/Connection, select USB, and then plug the phone back into the PC. It's not going to do anything on the screen that you can see. You'll need to open My Computer and look at the list of drives for Removable Disk.

As to finding the file on your computer after you export it -- When you choose Export as MP3 in the Audacity menu, a small window will open up and at the top it will say "SAVE IN", and show you what folder it is saving it to. If that folder isn't convenient, change it to any folder you like, or save it to the Desktop, so it will be easy to find when you're done.

icon_alien.gif I am hoping you can help me too. I am also having trouble getting my computer to read my phone. I have my phone set on USB Memory Card, but when I click on it on my computer, it keeps asking me to insert a disk into E: Drive. Question number two, when I plug my phone into the computer, my phone pops up to say some files and applications are not accesible. What do I need to do?

Mahalo in advance for your time! icon_heart.gif

What model phone, and what service providor do you have?

Do you have a memory card in your phone that you know for sure is working?

It is the Motorola V3xx. Is the memory card the same as the SIM card?

Hi. I just got a RAZR V3xx for christmas today and cannot figure out how to set a song that I already edited to fit size limitations as a ringtone. It is on my phone under music, but it doesn't come up when i go to select a ringtone. My plan is through AT&T, is the phone set so this cannot be done? If so, how do I make it so I can do this? Please help, I am getting very angry at the stupid thing.
