It is the Motorola V3xx. Is the memory card the same as the SIM card?
No, the sim card is only for phone number storage and small amounts of information from the service provider.

I was hoping someone could guide me in the right direction. I just got a v3xx. I pulled the micro SD card out of my Nokia 6131 and put it in the v3xx. It recognized my photos and videos however did not see the MP3s.
I connected the v3xx to my PC as a mass storage device. It found the drive and of course the MP3s are there. The phone still won't find them. So I copied a couple of songs into the mobile/audio file, restarted the phone and it still will not find any song on the SD card. They are there and the card is good.
I am at a loss.
Thanks
Sammy

If anyone could help I would appreciate it:
I recently had to return my malfunctioning v3xx for a refurbished one and I'm having trouble
applying an mp3 I uploaded from my computer via bluetooth as my ringtone; something which I
had no trouble doing on my previous v3xx, in fact I'm attempting to use the same exact file.
I've tried transferring it to the audio, music and sound folders but even though I can play it,
the option to apply it as my ringtone never appears. When I go to the file details I'm told
the following:
It would seem that the file fits all the criteria (not to mention that I was able to use it
before on my other v3xx) but for whatever reason I can't get it to work as my ringtone. If
anyone has suggestions, please advise. Thanks for your time.

All,
I have read many posts describing how easy it is copy ringtones, pictures, MP3's etc from your PC to a Moto Razr using Moto Phone tools.
I have successfully installed Moto Phone Tools 4.5.6a on my Windows Vista PC. Contacts and Calendar are easily and successfully updated to and from my PC.
After launching Phone Tools; Synchronization, Phone Book, Calendar, Text Message, and Internet connection are the only options available - nothing concerning pictures or sounds.
Verizon is my cellular carrier.
Any ideas? Do I need a different version of Software? Am I doing something wrong?

Kandrey,
For the V3xx specifically, the ring tone must be encoded at 256 bit or lower, and the maximum file size is 600kb.
Also, there is another way to transfer it to your phone without having to buy Motorola Phone Tools. If you have already purchased a memory card for your phone. You can transfer to the card directly from a PC with just the USB cable and no software. The PC will recognize the card just like it does a USB thumb drive, and give it its own drive letter, calling it a "Removable Disk". Then using the phones own software, you can copy or move the file from the memory card to the phones internal memory.
And some V3xx owners say that ring tones can even be accessed from the memory card on that phone. Previous Moto phones required the file to be on the phones internal memory.

I'm have exactly the same problem as koreesi and it's driving me crazy. I've tried everything - encoding at different speeds, making the file size larger, smaller, tiny, trying to save it in different locations - everything! I'm just about ready to take the phone back to the store and demand an exchange because the whole reason I bought it was because they promised me it could play MP3 ringtones.
With my Samsung phone which was a good 3 years old all I had to do was transfer the file and choose the song as a ringtone. Took all of five seconds AND it let you play the entire song as a ringtone, not a measly 30 seconds worth.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with this thing? It's the Motorazr V3xx, I'm on the same network as I always have been (Telstra), it's just this phone that is throwing a hissy fit. It keeps saying the codec is wrong and I don't know what else it wants from me!

Unfortunately I do have the same problem. I do have a memory card. I saved several mp3 files with different bit rates and different sizes. And all those seemed to fit to the characteristics given me by a Motorola representative. I went to Menu-settings-audio-details-call. after I hit call, i can see sound, music, voice notes, vibration pattern and silent. I don't see ring tones here.
Also, I tried to go to Menu-My Stuff-Media Finder. I can see music, videos, ring tones etc. Although I can see and listen to the mp3 files I uploaded in Music section, I cannot see them under Ring Tones section.
I am getting crazy and Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So, I use Audacity to make my ringtones. My original V3xx read ALL my tones, but I had to send it back for a new one, and this one picks which ones it will read. Or, rather, it will read all of them as MP3 music, but not all of the ones as ringtones.
I keep trying to add ringtones, all set in MP3 format, 128 Kbps bitrate, 300 KB or less. I've looked at the working ringtones in comparison to the ones that don't work, and I cannot find a difference in their specs. I don't know if my phone is magically possessed and happens to like some songs more than others, but I can make 3 ringtones and only one will work, even though they are all made the same way, using the same program, exported as MP3, have the same bitrate, and are close to the same size.
I've also tried making an actual "ringtone" folder, as well as tried different ways of importing the music into Audacity.
I seriously can't figure it out. suggestions would be great.

You might want to look at the naming of the song, might be to long or got characters that it does not like.
Try to rename the song that was not recognize to somethign simple like "you" and see if it will see that

I have one ring tone that works that is titled "Mississippi Squirrel Revival Ringtone" and the other one I tried to make was called "Focus" and it didn't work.
I'm starting to think that Motorola phones have a severe glitch that the company should take care of. The phone does have updating capabilities after all.
For the other people that are still having problems, my boyfriend had a suggestion: it could be a variable bitrate so try downloading a different version. I will try this, and if it works, I'll make a post.
