I came to t-mo in 04 to get unlimited wap for $5/mo. Told them i wanted to run apps that used the wap connection. They said ok. Used their nokia 3220 for 2 years, ran webviewer then opera mini etc on it just fine. Last summer i wanted to upgrade but didn't like any of the phones. So i got a nokia 6230i unlocked. It worked great too running java apps that used the wap. Then about 4 weeks ago it stopped working. After 16 calls and as many different stories i was told they had blocked wap app access in the network. I can't afford a pc or full internet on my phone which is why i came to t-mo from sprint in the first place. This is so unfair. They already have a 1mb download limit on the wap. It's not as though my series 40 nokia is going to eat up network bandwidth loading 20k mini opera pages. Now i'm screwed. I have no web access.

Tmobile blocked all access outside of their wap port, including the 8080 work around. If you were using tzones, you never were supposed to be able to access most of the things you were doing, but tmobile never really did anything to stop it. For some reason they decided it was time to stop people from using tzones improperly and block all access that wasn't mobile data traffic. The good news is I believe some users at howard forums have found a way to get opera mini working again. If you go over there and do a search, I'm sure you would find someththing.

My point is that the sales and tech @ t-mo told me i could do apps on t-zones. I didn't use any 'work arounds'. This isn't a nokia n90 or a series 60 fone. I want my wap back that i've been using and paying for for the last 3 years.

Sorry your not going to get it. Tmobile is now enforcing the terms of tzones internet. When you signed up, it should have been like how it is now, but tmobile was not doing a good job of enforcing all the terms outlined for tzones. Now, for some reason (and probably dealing with 3g data) they are enforcing them. All you can do is try to call and complain and maybe if enough people do that tmobile will open up the tzones ports again.

Btw there are no work arounds at howard forums. Some people are claiming success but that is with smart phones not series 40 nokias.

Posted from a mobile | See if you can get free legal advice from a lawyer, I would think "Grandfather Clause", it may apply someway to cellular service.

The advice I've gotten is complain to the BBB and my rep and senator. Apparently our federal gov. Is considering legislation to make the early contract termination fees a thing of the past and regulate cell provider contracts in general. Seems that many find the early termination fees anti-competitive.

Found the work around at howard forums for s40 phones. It only works on unbranded phones. I need a pc to do it which I don't have so I guess I call in a favor from someone. Btw it's in the main nokia section at that forum.
