When I log into my Cingular/AT&T account, it has an ad to get the Samsung SYNC - Red for just 24.99 (after a $50 MIR). If I add it to the cart and my phone line (the only line in the plan) it shows a fee of $74.99 plus the activation of $18 (and tax I presume). Reading up on it more it says I need to get a 2 yr contract to recieve the MIR. My two questions are:
1) Can I extend my contract for 2 more years and get this rebate?
2) Is this offer online only or can I just drive down the road to the Cingular store?
I joined Cingular mid-November of 2006, 7 months ago, and have stayed in good financial standing (no late payments). I realize that out of a 2 yr contract you need to be 18 months in to actually recieve the upgrade option, but it let's me go straight to the "submit order" page with the exact same price of $74.99.
The reason I ask is because the phone retails at close to $180 I believe, and I don't want an extra $100 being charged to me that I didn't know about.
Thanks for reading.

No, you can only upgrade(thats what an extension with discounted price device is called) every 21 months.

So what happens if I do buy this for $74.99. I'm not worried so much at the rebate. but am I able to use the SYNC on my plan when it gets here, without paying the full price of ~$180?

I also was reading other posts on here. I noticed in one, somebody said if you have AT&T/AT&T branded phone, you can upgrade at anytime to Cingular (back when they last switched). Does the same apply now? Since Cingular switched to AT&T, can I get an upgrade to an AT&T branded phone?

if your contract has more than 6 months on it and you pay less than 90 bucks a month for your primary line, you are not eligible, so when you order it won't go through.

If you have an AT&T Wireless, not the new ATT phone, yes, that would be a pre-merger contract, and it would have been expired by now.

I have a Cingular Wireless Nokia 6102i right now. I got the phone free with a 2 yr contract back in the fall.
I called AT&T and they said it was only a rumor that if the phone is branded with Cingular, you become eligible for a upgrade. I ended up finding a new phone (unlocked) for a decent price though.
I've been paying around $60 a month (39.99 + 4.99 txt and then taxes). I just recently upgraded to 19.99 unlimited txt.
Thanks for the replies though!
