Hi all,
I need some help on this and maybe someone out there can help me solve the problem. I have an LG vx8600 that I bought off e-bay,I'm currently on a prepay account which piggy backs off the Verizon tower. The problem I'm having is transferring my MP3's/sounds and using them as ring tones. This is driving me wacko. There must be a way to do this, if anyone knows how to do this I would greatly appreciate the help in doing this.

never say never--before getting into the method, do you have a SD micro card for this phone?
I have the AX8600 which is similar, but not exactly the same. there is a method if you have the card.

I lost the link to make this shorter but here's a general process that you can at least get started on and then maybe tweak it.
Make sure your SD card is formatted before starting this.
Using a card adapter, place MP3 files 20-30 seconds in length at most from your PC to the SD card. (Must be MP3 format)
Then take card out and place into the phone.
On your main screen on the phone, go to:
My Media (#7)>>
Audio (#3)>>
Donwloaded folder (your list of MP3 on your card should be there)
Highlight the particular MP3 you want to move
hit softkey "Options"
list comes up and hit "move"
sublist comes up "move to Phone?" and hit yes
It will move the MP3 to the phone and then you can then assign that MP3 to whatever phone contact or alert you want. If you run out of available space it will tell you.
The inherant problem is that the phone only has 3MB of space available, so you can't download a boat load of MP3's. I was only able to ultimately download 6 MP3's to the phone. I suppose if you make your ringtone/MP3 smaller (less than 20 seconds), you'll obviously be able to have more available to use.
If you can figure out a way around that problem, let me know, cause I have been looking for a solution. I have also been looking for a way to have the MP3 used as a ringtones straight from the SD card but haven't figured that out. It keeps telling me that I have to send to the phone to use as a ringtone.

Get BitPim opensource free software. Find it with google or eliminate blanks in w w w . b i t p i m . o r g since I can't post URL. Connect your computer to phone via Bluetooth. Drag and drop your MP3 onto BitPim RingTone folder. BitPim converts it. Then click SendPhoneData icon. Can be done in 2 minutes maybe less. BTW manage your phone contacts, calendar, videos, MP3s, etc as well as ringtones with BitPim too. Bluetooth USB connector for PCs can be had for less than $20.
