I know that the Moto e815 was a very good phone, but is it worth shopping on eBay for one instead of current models(vx8600) now that it is discontinued?

I'm just starting a plan at Verizon and I need a good "phone" other possible organization features might be nice but are not in anyway necessary.

I'm a college student and I don't need to have fun on my phone.
Is the e815 worth the hustle or is there a better model out there for those of us that need just a good phone?

Thank you.

In my experiance yes. I never had it personally but it seems everyone I talk to who had this phone really loved it. I think this was the last Moto that was any good. Plus, if you supply your own equipment, you only have to sign a 1 year "service only" agreement icon_biggrin.gif

I used to have the e815. It was a great phone except for 1 major flaw. The charging port on it seems to fail miserably. I along with 3 other friends who had the phone all ended up replacing our phones between 6 months to 15 months for this same problem. We tried to clean the contacts, replaced the charger, etc. The power connections just wear out. While the phone still was great it was nothing more than an expensive paper weight without being able to power it.

I'd go fo some of the newer phones. I like the vx8600 (what I replaced the e815 with). Of course, the best thing I can suggest is going to a VZW store and trying out some of the newer phones. I'm especially drawn to the new Samsung SCH-u740 since I text a lot.

Hope that helps
