I am going to be switching over to a fav 5 family plan. I currently own an unlocked slvr. I know that i can use the phone on t-mobile's service but i need to know how its going to affect my fav 5 setup since my phone wont have the software. Will i sign up my favs online? Will this even work?

i dont think it will work because it is missing the software, online will just switch your 5, but not provide the preinstalled software

Tmobile may not allow you on a my favs plan without a myfavs phone. They can do this and I have read about them changing the plans for ppl using myfavs without a myfavs phone.

They have done this to me. I even told the lady what phones I had and yet she still let me sign up on the myfavs plan KNOWING my phones wont allow it. Now they're telling me to pull "buyers remorse" and get a new phone. geesh.

My girlfriend uses a my faves phone and a regular phone without the 5 fav firmware. She does not get charged for calling people on her fave5 plan when using a non fave5 phone.

She won't get charged, but tmobile has something written in fineprint that if they detect a non-myfavs phone, they can change your plan to a non-myfavs plan.

Then the CSR didn't know what they are talking about because they said it didn't matter what phone she uses.

Bottom Line from a CSR Rep:

-You MUST have a FaveFive phone to start using the Myfave program. It has the embedded top 5 circle layout, where you manage your 5 contacts.

-HOWEVER, after initially setting up your top 5 on your myfaves phone, you may switch your sim card back to your non-myfaves phone. You will not have your top 5 circles, but you will still be billed accordingly with unlimited calling to/from your top 5.

-You will need to either log onto mytmobile.com or switch back your sim card to change your contacts.

T-Mobile will never change a customer's rate plan on them without their notification or consent. I don't know where mpapple10 got that information, but it's simply not true. T-Mobile would make more money with a customer on a myFaves rateplan who is not using the top 5 free callers, as they are generally $10.00 more than regular non-myfaves plans. And if a customer has already set up their plan and 5 faves on their myfaves phone intially, T-Mobile could care less if they switch their sim card into their non-myfaves phone.
