This could be a good way to get out of your contract without paying the termination fee. It'll require a lot of effort, but.

Has anyone ever noticed how sprint gets the worst reviews for customer care and has the worst policies as far as their company goes. I wish I was still with sprint, so I can get out of my contract without paying the etf. I personally paid $1200 in etf's just a few months ago to cancel my srvc with them.

Yeah that wasn't very smart of Sprint to make that announcement, now any unhappy and persistent customer can get out of contract by just spending the afternoon calling Sprint up. Not a good move, not a good move at all.

I work for Sprint Nextel as a dealer, and I have never heard of anyone getting there line canceled because they complained too much. Now I will say that although the over the phone Customer Service is not up to par, the support I receive from Dealer Service is exceptional. I apologize to those that get the, can barely speak English Filipino person, Customer service Rep, but that just recently started up again. With all the network upgrades going on, they had to use third party service agents until the Sprint Nextel merger is complete. I don't mean the company merger, I mean the billing system merger. Sprint is currently combining Legacy and Ensemble accounts together in to one system. So the wait on the phone is long. If in the event you have a problem with you service, go into a store and speak to a Sales Executive. That way you'll have the face-to-face interaction, and they most likely will have better resources on hand to assist you.

Check out some of the news sites, Sprint is cancelling customers contracts who make more then 25 calls to customer service in a months time. While I would agree with Sprint that that is excessive, instead I would (were it me) put a clause in the contract that states excessive use of customer service will cause the contract to be terminated AND kick in the ETF. That way people don't abuse my customer service people just to get outta contract.

I would never sign a contract that lets provider charge me and cancel me if I wasn't happy with there service. Its time cell phone companys play fair.

What do you mean play fair? If the Early Termination Fee wasn't in effect all of us would be paying outright for our phones. I'm not sure how many of you want to pay 140 to 750 for your cell phones, but I like getting the discount for signing a countract. And technically, since it is a contract, without it, they could force you to pay the rest of the contract. The ETF is usually a cheaper way to get out of it. Contracts are legally binding, without the ETF, a cell company could sue you for breach of contract, and most likely win every time, on top of that, they may also be able to get legal expenses as well. No, ETF is okay with me, if I am that worried about the service, I'll make good use of the trial period they allow me to make sure it'll work fine.

If all cell phone companies would provide quality service in all areas, there would be no complaints and no reason for customers to want out of their contracts. If they fail to provide the service, we should not be held to their - one sided - contracts.

And on that note, for anyone who makes a late payment, should the company be able to stop providing service because the customer didn't hold up their end of the contract?
If you sign a contract, know what you're signing. Cell phone companies are not going to be able to "provide quality service in all areas" because that can mean any number of things to any number of people, and even with perfect service some people would still be unhappy. Plus, there is no service industry in existance that provides anything close to perfect service.
Why everyone expects cell phone companies to bend over backwards to their every whim is beyond me. Yes, it's one of the few industries where you get tied into a contract. only if you want one, though. If you don't want a contract, get prepaid service or buy a phone outright.

If Sprint annonced they would drop customers that complain too much, they would loose a lot of business. I have had my share of problems with Sprint, their mix up with billing, and overcharging for items I never used, and once they billed me an ETF when we still had service with them and had not cancelled any of our phone.go figure! I wish we could get out of contract with Sprint. I do not feel it is fair that after being with a company for over 3 yrs. we should have to pay FULL price for a phone PLUS sign a new two year contract. I think this is forcing someone to be a customer. Sprint has a lot of work to do to gain my trust in them again.
