I just got the VX8550 for Verizon, and i have been looking for a way to put mp3 ringtones on it. I tried that bitpim software that everyone has been suggesting but it says that the feature to add ringtones has been blocked by the phone provider. I would try the other suggestion which is to email the 30 second bit of music to the phone but my phone doesnt support text messaging. Any suggestions?
thanks!

i haven't figured out the custom ringtone thing either.but that's because i can't get mine to work on bitpim.
how did you get yours to work with bitpim? are you using bluetooth or usb cable?
the 8550 isn't even in the menu of available phones.

If you have inlimited text messaging you could use myxer.com and create an account, and just text message it to yourself. After the message downloads, it will start playing, and you have the option of saving it as a ringtone.

Ok i figured it out, you have to set bitpim to 8500, then go to directories, brew and one of those folders should have a + sign which shows a ringtones folder, just drag and drop the music into the folder and it will convert/transfer it though it might take a while to do so.
If anyone finds out how to get pictures off of the phone please let me know. thanks!

I'm having the same problem, I have it hooked via usb, and i can put it on vx8300 or vx8500, but they both say both blocked by provider, and i tried to follow the last post, but its kinda vague.a little more detail would help. Also I want to put on different wallpapers also
