All Verizon Customers should be aware that Verizon purposely blocks the ability to download pictures and other media files to your laptop or other devices through your phone USB port using the popular Motorola ( Mobile ) Phone Tools Software. They do this to force users to send this media via wireless text messages and pay the very high data transfer rates. I have done a thorough investigation into this and Motorola supports my findings that all phone companies provide the hardware means to do this and all other service providers allow this except Verizon. Everyone should carefuly consider this restriction before signing up to Verizons phone plans. icon_devil.gif [/b]

Why don't you just send the messages to your e mail address? VZW has very affordable msg packages and all include txt, pix, video, and IM's.

Why, you ask? Mostly because I want to use a feature on a piece of electronic equipment the I purchased and I own without having to pay someone else for the privilege.

Fortunately, I’ve been able to hack my way past Verizon’s attempts to extort additional money from be to use my phones features….at least so far.

I can confirm Gary Maier's results on a MotoRAZR V3m.

I just test drove one for 13 days, after being assured by the dealer that I could listen to mp3 podcasts on my phone. I made her put it in the contract. She did, so when it didn't work I gave them back their 'used' phone and got 100% of my money back from the dealer.

Verizon lost this customer for such a lame business strategy!

Has anyone tried to call Verizon and b**** them out for this? I'm going to even though it probably won't change anything.but it might if enough people do it. They don't have the right to put restrictions on equipment WE purchased.

LOOK OUT! HE'S A MAN ON A MISSION!

lol, yeah let's change the world,
ONE CELL PHONE AT A TIME!

why don't you go do something productive with your time, instead of hassling some stressed out call center employee.

I hear the whales still need saving.

I smell a Verizon rep on this thread.anyone w/ a reply that is on VZ's side.

Yes I agree with you 100%. I paid $300 for a phone that expected to do cool things with. While I can, I have to pay a high premium for some basic things. I'm typing this message while watching and iPhone ad and I am quite tempted to switch over to at&t.

The problem I have with Verizon and their phones is that they block out all the cool things you can do with it and make you pay for stuff that should not be needed. I really liked them before, but they changed and now they are becoming ridiculous. I really like my Samsung u740 phone I have with them, but I wish I could use it on at&t.

I also have a V3M on Verizon . but it got modded within
2 days of getting it up and running so that USB transfers
were enabled, MPT Media Studio worked and also enabled
a couple of extra built in ringtones . So now it does what
it was supposed to do as designed by Motorola.
And I agree. Verizon does cripple their phones. But that
may be changing in the near future as many customers
are complaining about it.

If someone could point me in the direction to enable the usb transfers I would be greatful. I was going to get Motorola phone tools for my razr v3m then I noticed a note:

"Note: If you are a Verizon customer, all multimedia and Internet connection features in this software will be disabled due to carrier request. Please contact your service provider for further information. "
