On our last two bills, my grandmother noticed that the texting price was up. It said it was $1 per text. icon_neutral.gif And they weren't pix or flix or anything, just normal text messages. I found this to be outrageous, but what do I know. I have been looking for the price of texts on Verizon's website, but I failed to come across anything.

Anyone else being charged this much, or is something totally wrong here?

Thank you.

sounds like premium messaging which isn't really text messaging. VZW chrgs $.15 per txt sent or recieved, $.25 for pix, flix sent or recieved/

I'm not really up to date with all this stuff. What is premium messaging?

Thanks.

premium text messaging is billing, usually from 3rd party companies, applied to the bill. these charges can range from $.50 - $19.99+ and are for services provided. some examples:

-on tv you see an ad for a "joke of the day sent directly to your cell phone, just text the work 'joke' to 22332"

-you watch american idol and want to vote, they will charge you $.99 for every vote.

-you're on the internet and see an banner for "FREE RINGTONES!" you link to the page and it says "Just enter your mobile number to get 8 free ringtones*" well if you look up the "*" way down the page it says "by entering your mobile number you agree to a $19.99 month subscription to "Ringtastic Tone Service." etc.

these are just a few examples. call customer service and ask for detail on the charges.

Hmm. I've never done anything like that from my phone, and neither has anyone else. I'll tell my grandmother to call Verizon, and ask them about the charges.

Thank you for the replies. Much appreciated.

I work for vzw. This is not a Verizon text charge. Does it happen to say "premium text msg"?

I'm not sure. I don't know if we have those bills laying around here, anymore. But it hasn't happened again, so the I guess the problem is solved. I know people were sending me those chain letter texts, so possibly that had something to do with it. Maybe not.

Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Thank you.

I work for nextel's wireless web support. whenever I see this, I always look for charges from places like Mblox or Mqube. I do not know about verizon, but nextel and sprint subscribers can see their 3rd party billing charges on their online accounts. Try doing this as well and look at either your download billing or media content
