hi everyone
i just got a samsung S500 and installed EasyStudio from Samsung website on my laptop (with an irDA port).
When i launch EasyStudio i can't choose irDA as port in the Setup menu.
Only 3 different COM* ports available, no irDA setting.
Anyone good at EasyStudio can help me with this ?

First turn on the phones irda than put it next to the IrDa and let it install itself than open EasyStudio and select the port.

First thanks for your quick reply
So i turned on irDA on the phone put it in front of the laptop irDA device and launched EasyStudio. But in easystudio i can't select irDA at all only got "COM1, COM2 & COM5" no irDA option
Maybe i'm doing somethin' wrong ? and what do you mean by "let it install itself" ? is the S500 suposed to say somethin' when he found an irDA device he can communicate with ?
For info i set my irDA laptop device to 115K instead of 4Mb/s i thought it'd have helped but it seems not :\

i'm using Windows XP SP1a on a Gericom Per4Mance P4 - CL10 with integrated irDA port.
Drivers for this one are from Microsoft "SMC irCC - Fast irDA Port"

What you should do id to put the speed at 57600
Thar helped for me. If I go any higher it wont work.
Try that. But another thing that you may want to know, is that you first should see if your PC/laptop can communicate with your phone.
If not, you have to by an infrared cable.
(I can be wrong about that with the cable, but try it if nothing else works)
Hopefully you will have open buy on the cable.
Some cables aren't suitible for Samsung phones either, so ask some working people in the store before you by it!
Good luck!

to all samsung owners of the S500 after days of searching i finally realised that you cannot use easyGPRS to upload sounds/pics but you need the easystudio software that you will find in the samsung site to do that, im using windows XP home, mobileaction IR cable to usb and it works great.......BUT for somereason i cannot upload animated screen savers to my phone, when i open the image to phone, convert the pics to animation (i know the process) i save and then when i click on download it says cant open file.....HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers

yeah Easystudio for s500 somehow does not offer support for GIF images.
instead, it has support for a weird filetype.. extension .ABM which allows you to combine three JPEG files into one "animated" file (meaning, only 3 frames of animation, comprising of the 3 JPEG files of your choice).

hey im also having the same prob with loading the animation into my S500. tried to make an animation with 3 picture files too but the animation also failed to load... any other suggestions?
and the screensaver i downloaded from samsung fun club cannot be loaded into the image editor cos they said the size wasnt rite. the download was 128 X 128 when the rite size shld be 128X 126. The list of compatible phones for mobile screensavers (pc link) included S500 as one of the phones. is editing the pic with another program the only possible way out? since i cant even open the file in Easystudio's image editor..

You can edit the images from 128x128 to 128x126 with Image Ready (Adobe Photoshop 7) or if you have installed EasyStudio's Image Editor click on it and wait 5~10 mins before it starts.
