so rogers and fido are having a promotion for a new option called name Id. this function allows ur name to show up when you call someone. However some fones like ours cannot support this new feature. so what you have to do is call ur service provider and they will remove that option from your account and your fone should work
if you remove the name id you should still have caller id
that is why my fone worked with a prepaid service sim card because prepaid service doesnt include the name id feature

Ok. This reply is for everyone else who might be having the same problem with Roger's/Fido.

August 1st, 2007, Roger's and Fido implemented a promotion for NAME DISPLAY that applied to a lot of their uers (my sister never received the promotion), and for those who used Motorola Mings, find themselves unable to receive all calls. if I remember correctly, it is all calls that aren't UNKNOWCALLERS.

Anyways. All you need to do is call customer service, and tell them that this promotion is messing up your phone. More times than not, the agent that picks up is a complete moron, and you can count on having to do this process more than once, but if you do find a good sales agent, tell them that you want the NAME DISPLAY option removed. I don't know why, but for the agent to remove this option, they will need to e mail someone (I don't know who) to have it removed permanently, otherwise, the option will be will reappear every time the system refreshes itself, which is about once a day (I think). In 24 hours, you shouldn't be having the problem anymore.

Does that sound about right?
