Long story short: I lost my phone while vacationing in Texas (I'm in Massachusetts).
I went to T-Mobile and had it deactivated, because I figured I'd never see it again.
Got a phone call from someone who FOUND the phone. It can't be used because the sim card is deactivated, but the person who found is going to ship it back to me.
My question is - can I still access my phonebook from the deactivated sim card? I lost ALL my numbers when I lost my phone and I was seriously stressed out over this, and now that I have it back.is it too late because the card is deactivated? Thanks.

I would imagine that you should still be able to access the contacts because the sim acts as a small data card and should retain data until it is deleted. Not sure about this, but I don't think the data could be deleted.

yes, your numbers can still be retrieved, when the sim is deactivated, it just wont make any phone calls

Thanks so much. This is seriously good news, I lost basically my entire phonebook. Once I get that card back that will teach me to make a hard copy WRITTEN down somewhere. Thanks for the answers!

Assuming you get a new SIM card from T-Mobile, you can back up the numbers on the original SIM and then copy them to the new SIM. I use a device called Cellstik to do that (I think I bought it at an Office Depot store), but there are other ways to do the same thing, including doing it through an online service.
Actually, T-Mobile can probably reactivate the lost SIM card, too.
