Hi,
I am new to this forum as well as T-mobile. I have been with T-mobile for just under a year. I know that is not that new, but I am still learning how they do things. I have the Samsung t-809. I am sick of the phone, because it has given me nothing but problems. I have had it replaced once and I have had the replacement for a few months and a few of the problems still exist.
I don't want to get into all of the problems, I am just looking for a replacement phone in the near future. I know that you can qualify for discounts on the phones, but is that only when you renew your plan for another 2 years? I am looking at the Wing. The problem is I can't afford $500 for the phone. Even if I renew my plan it will be $300.
My main questions are:
Is this a good phone?
What are some problems it has?
(I like it better than the dash) Is it better than the dash?
Is it worth the price?
Can I get it anywhere, without activation, for a good price?
Sorry the message is so long, thanks for any help.
Mike

The wing does look like a very good phone. I find 2 main differences from it and the dash. First is the form factor of the phone. The wing is a slider type, the dash is more like a candybar style pda. Secondly, the wing shipped with WM6, while the dash has to be upgraded to it.
I have bought and sold phones on ebay with no problems in the past. Just check the sellers feedback, and and payment policy's. Paypal is the easiest way to pay, anything that involves a wire transfer is not good. Also, make sure you see real pictures of the phone, not just pics from the phone makers website.

I have a Black Razor V3T less than 6 months old
It suddenly stopped working night before last. I called customer service because I had some issues getting the phone opened up to check the battery.
I was told they would replace the phone without the battery in 7-10 days. If I wanted it in less time I'd have to pay $15 for express shipping and what I would get back could either be a new or used phone at their discretion.
I called the local store and asked if I could come over and let them try a different battery in the phone to see if that was the problem before I made a decision about weather or not to have the phone replaced.
It took me 15 minutes to convince them I didn't expect to keep the battery I wanted to try.all I wanted was to determine if the problem was the battery.
Throughout this whole process they were kind, professional and very diligent in explaining their policy, what they were not able to do and how they "personally" were not customer service but the middleman?
It was the same at their 1-800# and their "Corporate" store.
First of all.it's totally rediculous they don't sell the most basic phone accessory (battery).
2nd why should I be required to pay extra to get a defective product less than 6 months old replaced in a reasonable amount of time with only the promise of having to gamble on getting a new or used phone back?
My phone is in pristine condition. I have taken care to keep it that way. Why would I be happy with a possible "used" phone that I've no idea where it's been or how it's been treated?
They have done a very nice job of making it so difficult to get a satisfactory result I'm sure they've been very successful at getting their customers to give up and let the course of their contract run before moving on when/if a problem occurs.
I hate to tell them. I could care less about their policy beyond how it affects "me"
I don't care if I have to pay the $200 termination fee.they will lose over a grand of money they didn't get from me because I didn't let the contract ride.
I have loved the 5 Favs plan and been a walking talking advertisment for them for the last 6 months. Because of things I've said.chances are they will get at least 5 potential customers into their stores that they may not have otherwise.
Considering most of the people I know have teenagers those potential customers might have purchased a Family Plan and let it ride 2-4 years. I was with my last carrier for 10 and probably would have stayed with them that long or longer. Marketing statistics show that a customer who has had an unsatisfactory customer service experience will tell twice the number of people they tell when they've had a "good" experience.
So.I did a little calculating and potentially their inability to do the right thing (even if it had been so simple as coughing up a new battery) has now potientally cost them in excess of $30,000.
Doesn't anyone actually listen to what a Customer Service Rep says anymore?

Don't knock the T809 . it's revered by a lot of people. There hasn't been a _better_ phone in its price range for the last 3 years. You may have issues with battery life with BT on, or want a more modern [larger] microSD card -- but those aren't serious problems.
The currently "free" T629 is a downgrade, both in screen rez and look/feel. There are better Samsung sliders -- U700, U600, the old D900, E900, D807 -- but they aren't available in the US. So, if you buy independently on Ebay you may have continuing warranty concerns.
If you go with a Wing, you'll often get cheaper thru a 3rd-party provider than direct from TMo, but sometimes the plans/contracts aren't the same.

I apologize if I offended you, but me and my girlfriend have the same phone and we have both had ours replaced. I spoke with individuals at T-Mobile and they said the t-809 had problems which is why it was replaced so quick.
I had constant problems with dropped calls, my speaker went bad, the sound level would increase and decrease during calls, the phone would restart itself during calls and texts, calls would not end when the end button was pressed and visual text on the phone would convert itself to symbols from time to time. My girlfriend had many (not all) of the same problems. I understand that some may like the phone, but I was simply saying that "I" do not and was asking for help finding something else.
So again I apologize if I may have offended you or others, I was just looking for help about a different phone, because I have had many problems with this phone. Some of the major problems are happening with the refurbished phone as well.
