I am under my parent's contract. My dad, when he first signed up for Verizon was so satisfied with his phone and the network that he did not want to pay money to upgrade his phone when he was offered. The offer to upgrade came and passed. Taking a break, I find it odd that they only offer us 2 upgrades every 2 years. What if you have 5 numbers under the contract, as in our case. So it comes to me and my brother's turn to get an upgraded phone but my dad decides since his phone is about to fall apart he wants to upgrade. So my dad upgrades his phone and gets my brother a new phone, I did not want the free phone which come with it. So I am hanging dry and do not want to have this phone for 4 years.
Current:
I am looking at phones and see some cool phones, not satisfied with selection at Verizon. So my question is:
Is it possible for me to buy a phone, such as a Helio Ocean, which has CDMA technology and then have them program my number to that phone?

The ocean is very similar to the LG Env. Y don't u get that. Has a lot more features than crappy Ocean. And To answer the question Ocean is not compatible with VZW network even though it uses the same type of technology (cdma).

Every phone is eligible for a "free" upgrade every two years, not just two phones, but you have to remember that each new phones extends that lines contract by 1-2 years depending on the price you pay for the phone and the length of contract renewal you choose. Having come from a Verizon background I can tell you that the best thing you can do is find out when each line is due for an extension and take it from there. Also remember that "free" is a relative word, you pay for what you get, while Motorola usually offers a free device, the reception on LG's has been ranked higher with Nokia being at the top of the heap, it really comes down to knowing what you are buying and how much it will really cost you to upgrade a line.
