Hi!
I just got the LG Muziq yesterday, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get my own ring tones to work.
I don't have the internet package for the phone, so I would prefer to not have to 'download' one from the ring tones on the sprint phone site.
I put a wav file in my music folder for the memory card I have in the phone, and it won't show up anywhere.
I am successfully put a few songs on the phone using the music manager, but I don't have the option (on the phone) to make any of those a ring tone.
When I go into the settings to pick a new ring tone, I check "My Albums" and it seems to be looking for 'videos' not songs.
So, basically, can anyone tell me how to get songs onto my memory card so they will come up as ring tones?
Thank you very much, and I am sorry if I sound stupid. I am normally able to figure electronics out myself, but this one is giving me trouble, and I love to customize everything about my phones.
Thanks!
~Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth:
Do a google search for a program called "Super" from eRightsoft. If you download that program (it's free), you can convert almost any media file (including mp3's) into a file type that that Muziq recognizes as a ringtone--3GPP2.
So follow the instructions of the Super software to convert your file from MP3 to 3GPP2 format, then save that new 3GPP2 file to the subfolder within the DCIM folder of your memory card. Then go through the process of assigning your ringtone as you normally would, and look in "My Albums" for your new file. It should be there--assign that as your ringtone and VOILA!
Hope that helps.

I downloaded the Super program and tried what you suggested. I do see the files there when I go to my album, but it fails when trying to assign it as a ringtone. If I browse the memory card, I can get to the 3g2 files and they play fine, audio and no video, but no go on assigning them as a ringtone. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was able to do this.
Step #1: Acquire "SUPER" and "Quicktime Pro". I know QT Pro isn't free, but you'll need it. I just happen to own a copy of it.
Step #2: Choose a song that you like and edit the length of it in QT Pro.
Step #3: Choose a picture that will relate to the ringtone. Everytime your ringtone plays, this picture will show up. Make sure the picture is at 320:240 resolution
Step #4: Open up a 'new player' in QT Pro, open up the picture file in QT Pro and open up the music file that you want in QT Pro. (note: 3 windows should be open.
Step #5: Copy and paste the music into the 'new player' window.
Step #6: Copy the picture and then go to the 'new player' window and click EDIT>ADD TO SELECTION AND SCALE.
You basically created a slide show with one picture.
Step #7: Save the file as a .mov file. Place this .mov file into SUPER and encode it with FPS at 5 and resolution at 320:240 with the extension .3g2.
Step #8: Send it to your DCIM folder and when you choose a ringer, it should be found in MY ALBUM.
I have done this and it works just fine. Seems like a lot of work, but it gets fast once you get the hang of it.

Thanks for the response and the good walk through. I will try this today and see how well it works.
On a side note, is there anyway to install my own custom java games and apps on this phone? I have a few games that I used to play on my nextel phone that I installed manually and would like to add them to this as well. Not very much info on this new phone out there yet. Thanks again!

I followed all the steps with the Quicktime Pro and such.
However, when I go to assign the video as my ringtone, it says failed to be set.
Is there a certain size the file has to be, or any other specifics?
Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

I too followed all of the steps required by using QuickTime Pro and the mov file works fine and can be played. However, I import it into Super, and then save the new 3g2 file to the phone and get an incompatible resolution or aspect ration. I don't recall the exact message. I know the final mov file is a 320x240 and I have the same set in Super with a aspect ratio of 4:3. Am I missing something here? Thanks!

Did you set the original picture to 320:240?
Also, forgot to mention that the file that SUPER makes has an extension of
.3G2
Change the capitol G to a lower case g. Not sure if this matters, but I always do it and have no problems.

Here's a really great solution as well, works well, and it's definitely easier than what I suggested.
Go to GOOGLE and type in the following line:
"sprintuser Muziq Transfer" (without the quotes)
The first link should be to a SprintUser forum. Click that and enjoy.
