OK I'm stuck with verizon because everyone I know uses it.
They have a mediocre phone selection.and to make the situation even they put the shittiest operating system ever cobbled together on their mediocre phones.
I don't have the newest firmware for my razr (some of these things may not be an issue anymore) but the OS lacks so much I hate the phone (I also hate it because its falling apart but thats a different story).
Software problems as I see them:
Non Changable Red theme just pisses me off
No RING AND VIBRATE (best thing ever not having it proves verizon Sucks)
No background picture on the outside? WTF!?
Predictive text isn't T9
On startup and shutdown, graphics and sounds aren't customizable
I'm sick of seeing VCAST and GETITNOW everywhere (I've already got it or I wouldn't be using this shitty phone)
Sports Clips (who the fuck wants a clip, ever hear of sportscenter)
Can't see the date on the outside if you have a voicemail, change ringstyle, set an alarm, etc.
Admittedly some of those things are stupid verizon features, but for the most part its all rather vanilla changes that could make their OS easier to use and less agravating to me personally.
Anyone else have ideas for phone OS improvements?

Find something better to compalin about. A lot of those features are from the crappy phone you selected not the ui. Most VZW phones, do allow the ring and vib. features. Also allow you to change the theme on your phones. Also allow pix for the external display as well as videos on your normal screensaver. That phone is several years old. Try getting an upgrade and then find something to complain about. I could see if you didn't have a phone that is currently a free phone and were compalining about lacking features, but having a phone that is at least 2 years old doesn't give you a leg to stand on. IMO.

Ed, judging from your posts you must work at verizon wireless. Since my phone is only 13 months old I do have a leg to stand on. And in fact the older version of the razr did let you customize the outside screen background. So yeah I think that a lot of them are valid issues with the phone operating system.
I'm sorry you don't think they're valid issues, but the software cripples the phones. From day one with the razr its software has felt like a cheap verizon advertisement. I already bought the phone and the plan why keep advertising to me.
Do you know if the nokia phones that verizon is currently selling have nokia's or verizons software? I always used nokias before I switched and they were all great, the software is good and the phones were sturdy.
