Hey guys,

I have service with Cingular/ATT, leeching off my parents through the 'family plan'. Recently, my parents told me that ATT called them and said my ancient cell phone (which I used maybe once or twice a month) was being 'retired' and would no longer work starting in August. So my mom upgraded her phone and sent me her old one (an LG 1400), which apparently got dropped when being mailed, because the volume keeps dropping out on calls so that I can't hear the other person at random intervals, and is thus unusable. (I'm pretty sure it's not the service because my mom never had this problem with it, even in the same area.)

So now I've got service with no phone. I've been looking at phones, and seems that the majority of them are all gussied up with cameras, mp3 players, web browsers, toasters, and other crap that I just don't need, and I haven't seen one yet under $100. Basically, looking for a phone that does/has the following:

- Makes/receives voice calls and text messages
- Good reception & battery life
- Doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Is there not a phone out there with just these capabilities at a decent price? Anyone with recommendations?

I prefer Nokia 6030 in this case. It's cheap and it is not packed up with lots of features. I used to use it and it has good battery life and good reception.

Looking at this phone on Amazon is $150. Is this as cheap as it gets if you don't have a contract to renew/sign up for ?

You can get the 6030 for $10 off the AT&T site as a prepaid phone. No unlocking required, just put your sim in and go.

Does that mean I can buy this phone and use it with my regular service, or do I have to use it with a prepaid service?

Also, anyone know if this phone allows you to store multiple numbers per contact? I've read one plays that you could, but one review says you can't.

Hmm. You can use it with any ATT plan. I don't know about storing contacts. I do have this phone but I lost battery so I can't turn it on icon_lol.gif

I have the 6030 . you can store 5 numbers per contact, along with an email address, a web address, street address and a note.

You can buy it as prepaid and use it on your postpaid account. Its a good little phone with solid reception.
