everytime i go to create a new text message, it switches from SMS to MMS. When i type, it says SMS, but when it sends, it comes out as MMS. And even though it says SMS in the corner of the message, when i go to message details it says that its a multimedia message.
I just did a master reset, but it didn't fix the problem.
And just for the hell of it, i took out the battery and the sim card.

Mine does the SAME thing! Its very frustrating. If anybody knows how to fix it please help. I tried to see if there was anyway I could change it in the Message Settings but I cant seem to figure it out.

You could try SEEM 0032_0001
offset 62 - bit 4: SMS: SMS Over GPRS Protocol Enable (1 on, 0 off)
Make sure it is off

I'm having the same problem of always sending MMS texts and can't figuring out how to set it to sms texts.
I'm not sure how to do the fix you stated. Is there a tutorial/ step by step to do that? I'm a little lost when it comes to phones. Computers on the other hand.
