Yes It is true. I just actually got rid of mine. It was awesome because most of my family had verizon and it was free to call when you call someone it'll tell you "the time available for this call is unlimited" if it isn't it will say how many minutes you can use.but it's also 99 cents a day no matter if you call someone or not. the only reason I got a plan is I text like crazy and I was buying a 30$ card every 2 weeks. but other than that it rocked Good luck!

I just signed up for the "prepaid" plan. You pay $0.99 per day that you use it and get unlimited use that day to anyone on Verizon.
You have to "pre-load" with $15 a month, $30 for 3 months or $100 for a year. From that "pre-loaded" amount the calls are deducted, but if you don't use all the money, you lose it. So if you pre-load at $15 for a month and make 3 calls at $0.99 ($2.97) you will lose $12.03 when the month is up. You also have to keep pre-loading to keep the phone activated. If you have a lapse there is a reactivation fee. My wife uses hers for emergencies only. I pre-loaded it with $100 for the year. It seemed like it would be the cheapest in the long run.
