Unlocked my W600i in Asia and was reflashed with W550i and now missing GSM850 band. Therefore now can't be use in At&t/Cingular network.
Is there a way to get W600i reflashed in w/out going straight to Sonyericsson and paying $186. Or reflashing will further damage the phone.
If so how and where to do this.
I'm a newbie in this.
Any help will be appreciated

You can reflash it yourself with the regular data cable quite cheaply, it will not hurt the phone.
I use the davinci client . you can find it easily by searching for "davinci unlock" using google.
I would post the site directly but this forum edits out links.
Good luck!

I have the data cable not a problem there, the phone is not locked by the provider because I spoke to the person last night that I got the phone from, (they bought a new one) and they said it was with the same carrier as I have, but they also said this happened after their son had gone to some website via the browser, not sure where, he claims not to remember. anyway I don't think it need to be unlocked from a carrier.
But they also said they did not put in any security codes or locks, so I am at a loss now unless it got some kinda bug from what ever website the son visited.
Thanks for the reply any further ideas?
Know where I can find out what these codes mean?
I was able to get into the phone to find what version etc, via *>*>>*<
Do you know of any other such sequences I might use to further dive into the works of the phone?

Well can't do anything, apparently my phone was turned to a brown phone.
Any information to proceed is appreciated.

Here is the defenition of red and brown phone.
RED and BROWN are not the colours of the case but a type of security certificate inside the phone
RED phones are retail ones
BROWN phones are developer ones, prototypes or sometimes they became BROWN after unprofessional unlock/flashing

Is red and brown specific to European phones, or maybe Sony Ericsson, because I have never heard the terms before and I have been around cell phone modding for quite a few years?
