Hi,
Friend of mine, who lives in ireland, gave me his old u6. At first it worked like a charm but after I updated the firmware (with motorola's own update utility) it asks for Subsidy password after entering pin-code.
The phone had O2 branded web browser installed and it was used with O2's sim-card, but i was told it was not operator locked.
Any ideas? i'd rather not do the unlocking 'cause it was'n even locked at the beginning .
Thanks in advance.

The software update has locked the phone and it needs to be unlocked now

Hmm, could it be that the phone is originally locked to work only with o2, but the retailer has removed the lock before selling it?
Anyways, I'm going to call o2 tomorrow and pray for unlocking code since phone working only in o2's network has little use in Finland
