I currently own a treo 700w with Verizon wireless. My contract is almost up and I was considering a new phone. I really want something that is fast with regard to internet browsing and downloading, and currently my treo doesnt seem so great in that category. Is this a just a treo problem? or is the technology just not there yet for all phones to enable fast internet use? I have been looking at the verizon xv6700, the at&t 8525 and the iphone, but have heard that web browsing with the iphone is slow. Which phone/service provider would be best for what I want?

If internet browsing is your priority, I would stay away from ATT and T-mobile. ATT's 3g network is not completely in place yet.
If you want more flexibility, I would find a phone that has wifi. However, you will quickly find that the speed bottleneck is your phone.
Palm is falling behind. They just don't seem to want to update their OS to reflect the current demands.
My recommendation is a phone made by HTC. I'm not too familiar with Verizon brands.

Ive heard the same about tmobile and att. Do you know anything about sprint's network? They have an HTC Mogul PPC-6800 that looked promising, I just dont know much about the network since Ive been with verizon and att so long.

I just upgraded to a PowerVision (EVDO) phone on Sprint, and for the first time I feel like web browsing is fast enough to be worth doing.

If you're in a 3G area with AT&T, it's pretty decent (at least comparable to EVDO) from what I hear, they rate it as 700-1400 MB/s when on the UMTS/HSDPA network. Unfortunately the iPhone is not a 3G phone so it can't take advantage of that, and the EDGE network (though considered "highspeed") leaves much to be desired.
Sprint Has The Fastest Data Network Out There As Of Right Now, And In April Of 08 They are doing an upgrade so speeds will be doubled or even tripled. no other carrier can contend with sprint data, or voice. and when sprint rolls out wimax, all the tdma carriers (ATT/Cingular and T Mobile )will be left in the dust.

The best PDA phone is the AT&T Fuze, which hopefully will be releasing soon. I've spent about 5-6 hours watching video reviews of this phone.and wow. It has been thought of as the best most innovative phone to ever be made to date. It is also known as the HTC Touch Pro and can be seen at w w w . h t c . c o m / t o u c h p r o (without the spaces)
