Hi all. I am new to Verizon and I have a quick question. I just left Sprint, by the way. Sprint charged me 2c per kb to access AIM, download ring tones, etc etc, these are called Data charges and from what I was told can only be avoided by paying 15$ per month to sprint for the data plan. My first phone bill with sprint was over $300 because of my negligence into exactly what I signed up for.
With my new Verizon plan I have the basics. 450 min per month ($39.99), 1500 text ($10/mo) and that's all. Now, I really need to know if Verizon will charge me money to sign onto AIM or check out 'Get it now' and download items I purchase there as data usage charges. I was told that it will charge you minutes, so it is best to use in off-peak hours, but no one mentioned any data charges.
Thank you for your time.
PS I do not have VCast.

well hey here's a trick it costs to get ringtones everytime from get it now. but if you go to myxer.com all you have to do is sign up and it's free! you can make your own ringtones and everything just make sure you have a music library so you can have music to make a ringtone and remember it's free!=)

It depends on the phone you have to receive a data charge. VZW charges $.015 per KB transferred, but only on BlackBerries and Smartphones. If you have a basic phone (any RAZR, enV, chocolate.) then the KB are meaningless with the phone plan you have. Meaning that you could use AIM (so long as you have the Mobile Web feature, or Vpack, which is more beneficial since airtime is waived this way), all day long and have no extra charge due to the KB used. IN messages aren't recognized when using AIM, so the messages will count against your ou-of-network 1500 msgs allowance. The main question would be: what kind of phone are you using?
