Unlocked Motorola V551 shows GPRS active on home screen

I unlocked by V551 yesterday and the process was sucessful but now it is showing GPRS ACTIVE on the main screen beneath the cingular logo. What is GPRS and how do I shut it off. I am also not recieving text messages properly.

GPRS = General Packet Radio Service
Its basically an internet connection
You can edit SEEM SEEM 010a_0001
offset 00 - bit 0: GPRS auto-attach at power-on (1 on, 0 off) (if bit 1 is on, auto-attach will be off)
bit 1: GPRS detach after GPRS data session (bit 0 must be on to activate)

I am sorry but I am not familiar with anything you wrote in your post Mikey. Could you please explain it in lamens terms for me lol.Please give me step by step on what I will need to do to shut it off. Thank you so much!
