well whats the worst out come from it? it can't mess up my phone just by making a back up can it?

I've got the same phone.my carrier is Suncom. They are merging with T-Mobile tho b/c T-Mobile bought them out. Did you make a back up of your phone? Mine is doing the same thing. I'm about to go crazy.Thanks for any help.
