Do i need a sim card in my razr to unlock it, or can it be done without a sim card inserted

It depends what method you are using. If you are entering subsidy code you will need SIM card (unless you are using t-mobile flex).
If you are unlocking using P2k Easy Tools or moto unlocker then no you don't need SIM card.
But obviously you need SIM card to be able to make receive calls, send texts etc

Just to add to that - if you are using a CDMA provider that doesn't use SIN cards this is not compatible with a GSM phone. Regardless of locked / unlocked it will not work

i am trying to unlock my razr v3xx. it was made for cingular but i have a tmobile phone. i called and t mobile gave me two subsidary codes that didnt work. now when i power on the phone it says call operator. anyone know why. and if anyone knows how to unlock this for free with out me sending please help. i been with out my t mobile phone for 2 weeks and this is the only means i have of getting my phone on.
