Don't sign a verizon contract, they are rip off artists and they pay off a collection agencey to claim early termination fees, they got me because I don't want to stick with their bad service, or should I say tricked me into the fees. I said I would like to cancel they agreed I should not be charged ETF fees and canceled my service, then a few days later they had me down for ETF fees. Watch out! I told a supervisor what happened and they called me a liar.

yeah I'm sure they called you a "liar". maybe you should have called Verizon to work it out on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th notice before they sent you to a collection agency. cry more please.

Being sent to a collections agency is standard for almost ANY unpaid debt.
I had Verizon for a year and had to do a change of responsibility in order to avoid the ETF.
I never really got "tricked" into or out of anything.

heh.i had verizon tell me i could opt out within 30 days of sign up free of charge, and they slammed me with all of those fees from my deposit. called them and they said they'd put in a committment to get back to me with a manager and they never did. they still owe me a balance of 94$ and refuse to even give me that for some odd reason. i call back over and over again, and the next rep is never able to verify anything the past rep said. i'm sure you guys use notes.right?

I asked Verizon about canceling a line that I had on my family share plan via email. I had this line for my father who passed away in July. Verizon sent me an email stating that they would not charge me an etf. I got my bill and there was the etf. I called and the rep was trying to tell me that I had to pay it and I referred her to the email. She credited the etf. Thank goodness I had it in writing.

i was with Cingular for 9 years when they were Cell One and i had great service all the time. I switched to Verizon last May and have regretted it since. Im going to ask Cingular to take me back and pay my termination fees with Verizon.
Let me just add that i cant get reliable service in my own living room with Verizon wireless. I get many dropped calls with this company also. Never had a problem with Cingular.

AT&T is going to laugh at you when you ask to come back and have them pay your early termination fees. Just so you know.

I too have terrible service with verizon in my own home but thats mainly one of the only places. I have no regrets being with verizon. I like the plan i have and am very satisfied. some of you people just seem like it takes alot to please you in un realistic way like no way a company will pay your early termination fees ha.

I was double billed. it was exactly double my normal bill, and those morons at verizon tried to convince me it was overages charges.
The thing is I'm an accountant, I am well aware of how to read a bill, so i know they were lying through their teeth.

Deathtotaxes, When you were double billed, I take it that it was access charges, right? By any chance was this your first bill or a bill you received just after making a change to the account? It sounds like proration, but if it were a valid error and you brought it before VZW it should be fixed so long as it's caught within a reasonable period time.
