Does AT&T (I'm Orange) still have a prorated ETF? My contract ends in April 2008. I firmly intend to switch to Verizon. I would be willing to pay 50-60 dollars if I could bail out 5-6 months earlier. Thanks for helping!

That depends entirely on your contract and area. Old contracts in some areas were prorated. Recent contracts are $175 regardless of the time left.

Well, I talked to AT&T about 3-4 weeks ago, and they confirmed that I did NOT have a prorated ETF. Fine, I can wait until April. But, today, I was on Engadgetmobile and found this article:

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/10/16/atandt-moves-to-prorated-etfs -too/

Is this true? And if it is, does it affect ALL customers? Thanks!

That won't be going into effect until the first quarter of 2008, so you'll have to wait a while anyway. We haven't been given full details yet, as to if it's just for new contracts or if it will affect existing contracts as well. At least, I haven't been given that info, I just took a quick look in our info system and can't find it there either.

the text message raise was almost 1 year ago (went into effect Jan 21st of 07) and there was plenty of notice before it went into effect. at&t covered their butts with that.
