I have a t mobile account. I own a Nokia phone that now only displays a blank screen. I went to the t mobile dealer and he told me to go to walmart a purchase a cheap phone and stick my sim card in it because my Nokia was out of warranty and I still had 10 months left on my contract. (I did not want to purchase a new expensive phone). I went to walmart and the lady from T mobile there (new person) told me that I could only purchase T mobil phones for my sim card to work.
I am looking for a cheap $20.00 range phone that will take my T mobile sim card and [u]do text message and caller id, and has decent reception. does this exist? do I have to buy only "T-mobile phone?" the cheapest one is $50.00.

Unless you are going to buy an unlocked phone (normally $$$), then yes, you do need to get a tmobile phone. $50 for a phone isn't bad, even for a basic phone. Your other option would be ebay, but I don't think you will beat $50 by much.

If you haven't purchased it already, I have a t-mobile phone that I'm not using that I could sell you for $25. It works great.
