I am looking to buy a Cingular 3125 phone for my wife, which claims to support ActiveSync. I am trying to confirm what I think this means. Can I synch from my desktop MS Outlook to the phone? If so, what else do I need to buy -- like cables -- for this all to work? Can anyone confirm that they have been able to synch this phone with MS Outlook 2003?

Fo the short time that I owned a 3125 (about a week), Yes, I made it sync to Outlook using ActiveSync. The activeSync program comes with the phone and you install it on your computer. You can get the necessary cable at the AT&T store, which is simply a USB-to-phone-data cable. While it was a fine phone and worked reasonably well as a smartphone, I found that I didn't care about having that much firepower in a phone.
Until I bought an iPhone, that is. Hey, you might be able to still find a 4-gig model for $299.00, but they are selling out quickly, if they haven't already. And it syncs with Outlook just fine without having to use ActiveSync.

with activesync, you can sync
contacts
calendar
notes
tasks
media files
office documents
the cable comes with the phone, you install activesync, plug in, and go through a setup wizard. fairly simple
