Could your mailbox on the phone be filling to capacity? I can't see any other option that would cause this. Are you being signed out? And do you lose your e-mails when you re-initialize your account?
One thing I had to do was stop the automatic downloading of mail. I'd be in a conversation or surfing and the thing would start checking for mail. Didn't really hurt anything, but it was working the battery un-nececcarily.

Thanks fo rthe help Gerio. I figured out it was our corporate Gmail settings that was causing teh conlict. Speaking to battery, is it normal that I need to charge this everynight? Since I have had the phone only for a few days, I have been playing around getting to know it. But I have not been on phone calls that much and I have not used safari or ipod.

To answer your question, yeah, it probably is normal to charge it every day.
At first, my battery needed charging about a third of the way into a day, but 3 or 4 days later, I began to get a full day out of it. I use it pretty extensively and I could get a day and a half from the battery now, but I charge it every night anyway.

I usually charge mine every three days or so. Chargining it every day can actually be more harmful than good. My wife did that with a phone of hers and now the battery is almost dead after just having it over a year.

Hell, I'm happy to get a year out of any phone battery. And every phone I've ever owned usually has enough batttery for a day and a half. Since I can't stop in the middle of the day, I charge it every night. And it's my understanding from the battery companies that it's better to not let the lithium batteries run all the way down unlike the other kinds.
This is what has worked and continues to work for me. Your mileage may vary (and probably will).
