I have a Motorola V551 cell phone. This may seem like a silly question, because I have had it about a year, and I thought I had set up a "taped" message.
How do I record a message when someone calls in to me and I don't answer?
For example: "You have reached 212-000-000, I will return your call ASAP."
Right now callers are receiving some weird automatic taped mesage. I have ATT/Cingular. I did look it up in the manual.but then.you know manuals! I could not find anything.unless it is listed in some computerize that I do not get.it's not in the manual.
Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

you would gain access to your voicemail and change your greeting. has nothing to do with the phone.

Press and hold the 1 key. It should give you a message asking you to:
1) enter your password, at which point you would enter your password if you know it, or call customer care to have it reset.
2) give you options for listening to messages, changing settings, etc. Just listen to the options, press the proper key.
3) An automated greeting will come on and tell you to set up your voicemail box. It will ask you to choose a greeting (what the other person will hear) and a password.
If none of those happen, then your voicemail is either set up incorrectly in the AT&T systems or the voicemail number in your phone is incorrect. Either way, call in to AT&T customer care (1-800-331-0500, do NOT call from the cell phone if you want any decent troubleshooting) and tell them exactly what happens when you press and hold the 1 key on your phone, and ask them to fix it. Call in the next 1hour:45mins, you might even talk to me!
