I'm currently not an ATT customer.but I feel in love with the Pearl when I saw it in the stores. I was wondering: Do I have to have a Data Plan if I'm switching over and buying the Pearl? Cause it's not just me switching, it'll be 4 phones total, so we're definitely going to be in a Family Plan.

I know that without the data plan, the pearl's features are minimal.

you can get it without a data plan yes, however some contract promotional phone prices might require you to have one.

Especially if you're getting it in a store, the mail-in or instant rebates usually require a data plan. However, that doesn't stop you in any way from adding the data plan at activation to save your $100.00 or whatever and then removing the feature a month later.
