I recently had a verizon wireless pre-paid phone that got busted all to pieces, and I really liked it, but now that I have money and all I want to buy a new phone. I like Verizon's LG Chocolate phone but I don't know if verizon would be the best of providers to sign up with for minutes. I would like to get the chocolate as a prepaid to test it out and if i dont like it well it is only prepaid so no big deals with contracts, But unfortunately they dont have the chocolate as a prepaid. I was debating on whether or not ATT was a good provider with minutes and all, and if i really wanted to i wouldnt have to sign any contracts and just get a cheapo pre-paid phone, and put the sim card in a better phone. I thought about maybe doing this with the verizon phones but they don't have sim cards so i must ask.
Whats better, ATT or Verizon?

I'm a little confused on whether you are talkin about both carriers prepaid services or plans.
Both have very good service in most places. But if being able to use unlocked phones sounds appealing to you at all, get AT&T. It also depends on what the majority of your family and friends have because it would be beneficial to be on the same network.
That help any?

Take a look at the respective websites, and the plans available. As well, the on-network calling (mobile to mobile) is a huge plus like theory said, so check with friends/family and see who they're with. Figure out which you can go with that'll cost you the least per month, either one should have decent coverage nationwide unless you're in very rural areas.

not just what network is most of your friends/family is on, keep in mind who you talk with most and find out what network they're on

Depends on where you live, Coverage in that area, and the people you speak with the most what do they have. Where I like my friends have Verizon, So I do as well. The other providers here are poor. I'd pick Verizon.

Just fyi, the old chocolate VX8500 is available for prepaid service. The new VX8550 is not however, so it also depends on the chocolate device you want.

Not a Cingular/AT&T Pearl. It won't work for VZW

I'd Pick Verizon Over ATT Any Day. both are a bit overpriced for prepaid if you ask me. check out virgin mobile, they run off sprintp network, and even have prepaid plans that include free nights and weekends at 7.
