so i dropped my iphone in the toilet and i snatched it out as soon as i realized it. i turned it off, took out the sim card and attempted to blow dry the water out-i now think that wasnt the best idea! it still hasn't come back on and im panicking because there are over 500 pix of my son on the phone. does anyone have any ideas on extra measures i can take before buying a new one and losing all the photos of my son? i guess i can give it a day or two but any other ideas are welcomed!

You did the right thing, but it may take longer for everything to dry out. Hopefully, there was no damage done by water shorting something internally when you attempted to power the unit on.
Sometimes having the phone in a heated environment will speed up the drying process. NOT a microwave. I've heard of wrapping the phone in an electric blanket or electric heating pad and setting the heat to LOW. Don't let it get too hot, keep the phone just warm to the touch. And give it a couple of days, maybe 3.
Are the pictures not backed up in iTunes?
Good luck,

Everything is a crapshoot from this point forward.

2 weeks ago i dropped my 3G iPhone to the sink, and it stopped responding at all, only black screen. I tried to dry it as much as i could. Still no respond. I went to Apple store, but they told me that they don't cover that problem, and they do not do the repair as well. After that I started searching for a good repair shop on Google. After a good number of calls i found one shop, it was on Manhattan, on 5th ave(very convenient location) and they gave me a good price. And the other thing that i got my phone back in working condition on the next day. Very quick service. I called them 2 days after my phone got water damage, and they instructed me what should i do. They told me do not try to turn it on or charge it, because that can kill the motherboard, but i already tried, and i was scared that i won't get my phone working again. But this guys know what they are doing. The company's staff are really nice and polite. and they have a really good reviews (which is really important i think). The name of the company is QuickFix, you can easily find them on Google.
I am happy that i have my phone working again and hope that my experience will be helpful!

I love how customers thing there is some kind of secret conspiracy with all cell phone companys with their phones that damage themselves and the phones getting themselves wet.
Seriously guys, if we had self wetting phones we would all be in prison right now.
It's not the phone that sucks, it's you.

My Apple iPhone has gone for an inadverdant swim for 10 minutes. It wouldn't work until someone told me to put it in a baggy of rice to absorb all the moisture. The battery is now taking a long time to re-charge. Will this phone be permanently damaged or is there hope?

Mine was working fine in the morning, low batt so charged it. Later the phone would not power up. Took it to apple store, said it had water damage. THIS PHONE HAS NEVER BEEN OR HAD WATER ON IT!. Apple will not cover it. I am more than pissed off at them and now $199 later have another phone that hopefuly will not have the same problems. To HEAVEYBREATHING, I hope that the same thing happens to u because karma is a bitch!

I hear that the iPhone is overly sensitive to very humid conditions (maybe they shouldn't sell it in the Southeastern US) or being left on the lavatory when one is showering. I've learned to be careful with mine, although I've never had such an issue.
