iphone froze on me sent it back to apple and they refused to repair saying there was water damage. phone was never dropped in water or had water spilled on it. anyone else with this problem? some of these forums talk about high humidity damaging cell phones. if that is true they need to put disclaimers on the iphone "only use in desert"

Body sweat can be an issue as well, depending on where on your person you keep the phone. I had this issue with a Razr. It quit working and the little telltale white dot had turned red and I had NO idea how or when it could have happened. When the phone was returned unrepaired because of water damage, I disseected it all the way and I could see where moisture had indeed gotten inside. At the time, it was summer and I was keeping the phone in my front pocket. Bad move.

If they saw water damage, then it came from somewhere, without your knowledge or otherwise. Something happened. The phone makers have much better things to do thatn to piss off customers with false claims of water damage.

Sorry, wish there was better news for you.

there is a thing called implied warranty of merchantibilty, which basically says a product should be free of defects for its intended use. if the iphone is suffering water damage from ordinary and expected use then it sounds like it has a design defect. the only time i had a phone suffer water damage was when my wife washed it with my jeans. i don't know why anyone would simply accept the manufacturers statement when they know the phone was not subjected to anything but ordinary use. maybe the iphone needs a warning label about being hyper sensitive to moisture from any source and even humidity can break it.

I'm sorry that you didn't hear what you wanted. Keeo your unrepaired phone and be pissed off, I don't care. And I'm almost 50 years old, I know all about "implied warranty of merchantibility". It has one big problem.it depends on who's doing the implying, doesn't it? I'm in the pro audfio business and I do everything from desk work to loading and unloading semis full of sound and lighting gear at the shop and on a show and I bang gear around between bands and set changes at warp speeds. And I do this all over the country. Indoors and out, rain or shine. The iPhone has several issues, but durability ain't one of them.

Good luck on the next go-around.
