I've emailed the "unlocking" service provider. The software I'm using is Total Server GOLD Edition - Unlock 2.75.
I can login to their server just fine, with the username/password provided...but it won't start unlocking...I followed the instructions:
1. Turn off phone, and plug T28 cable into computer and phone.
2. Took out SIM
3. Started application, pressed Unlock, and it says to press the On button on the phone (it states the phone shouldn't turn on).
4. The phone turns on and immediately says: "insert SIM" and the applications still sits at 0% and says to turn phone on.
I know my COM port works, as I reguraly use another device that is usually hooked up.
I'm thinking the cable is not a T28 cable, but rather a T68. I bought it on Ebay and it clearly states it is a T28 (i doublechecked to make sure it wasn't one of those misleading Ebay ads that say "NOT A T28..." Even my invoice says T28
How can I verify if this is infact a T28?
Leaving for Europe in about 2 weeks...so I need it to be unlocked
This is an at&t phone if that matters. Thanks.

The best way to unlock and upgrade SonyEricsson phones is to get one of those Terminator dongles and use the Div8 software. You won't have to pay anyone for any logs; unlock and flash to your heart's desire.
Go here for more reading
Go here to buy the dongle
Go here to download the software

Thanks for that...I'm hoping to avoid having to buy another product, as I've already "wasted" 20 or so bux.
The unlocking service claim the cable is bad or wrong. So is there a way to verify the cable is functional and a T28???

Well I just got a reply from the cable manufacturer saying their T28 cable doesnt offer unlocking capabilities!
Wish they had stated that on the ebay page. Think I'll just buy the Terminator dongle, but I hope I don't have problems afterwards like many others on that other forum.
Thanks.

Hello alex1000,
I bought the same phone (just a few minutes back and leaving for Europe soon) but I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MAY NOT WORK EVERYWHERE IN EUROPE. the reason, I was told, is - this phone is GSM850/1800/1900. The phone must be GSM 900/1800/1900 to work seamlessly in Europe.
What you think?
Were you successful in unlocking the phone?

I have an s40 that worked everywhere in sweden that I took it, aside from the fact that I didn't unlock it. I also couldn't call cingular from there to let them bill me at $2 per minute to call.
