I'm a little outside the city, and I get a GPRS or EDGE service just fine, but I DON'T get a good signal for the 3G network service.
3G is the latest and greatest from AT&T, so obviously they are pushing it, and my phone will try to connect to that any time it can. Problem is, whenever it's connected to the 3G network, I can only send messages (or calls) about 50% of the time.
Is there a way to unlock the Network Setup menus to turn off the 3G network and FORCE it to connect to EDGE or GPRS instead?

Hopefully, someone can tell you how to do that, but I can tell you that when a 3G service is rolled out somewhere, there is a "tweaking factor", according to a buddy of mine that works on towers for AT&T around here. Plus, he says, it doesn't hit all the towers at the same time, so you may be picking up a tower that's not the closest to you. It should improve over time, a few weeks, or maybe days.
But yeah, you should be able to disable the 3G, especially when you're traveling and going through areas where it's not quite rolled out yet.
Good luck,

It's not getting any better. I know it's possible to unlock the network setting menus, because other people have done it. I just need to know how.
I'm okay with buying a software program and getting it done, but I'm NOT okay with buying a software program and still not being able to fix it.
