What do you mean they extend your contract? If your locked in for two years and you stay with the same plan you signed up for, how can they extend your contract?

If you read the fine print, you'll see how they can do it (I've no idea, I don't care to read anything related to T-Immobile)

if you call in to change a feature, remove a feature, change your plan they will change your contract, Now yes At&t DID have that as well only when you changed your plan , but alot of the reps never extended a contract for a plan change.

you mean this?

"Changes to Your Account. If you give your personal account validation information to someone, they can access and make changes to your account just as you can. You may request to switch to another rate plan, and if we authorize the change, a transfer fee may apply and the new rates will become effective by the start of your next billing cycle. Changes may require your agreement to a new Term (if you select a promotional rate plan or special Phone pricing) or new T&Cs. If we allow you to temporarily suspend your account, you may continue to pay monthly charges and we may extend the Term for the length of that suspension."

Pretty vague, huh?

If you don't know this, please keep quiet.

Cingular came out of a cast-off of from Ma Bell or the old AT&T which was split up by the government several years ago due to their acting and being a monopoly. After the break up, At&t spun off At&t wireless because they didn't feel their stock reflected the value of the wireless division. Then Cingular buys the At&t wireless company and At&t re-acquires cingular in the new At&t. Well guess what? The new At&t is just the old At&t after a bunch of money was peeled off by investment bankers and executives, and they are screwing the customers again which is why they were split off in the first place.

They are all about money and their customer service is non-existent. When Cingular bought AT&T, they had also bought the old customers and their contracts so it is they who should be happy we stuck with them. We are just asking that they honor plans which they took responsibility for. I had a North America Plan and they are doing all they can to steal it back from me because they figure they can make more money off me by selling a roaming plan.

Now I find they have been charding me $14.99/month for unlimited mmode and I find out that the mmode service has been discontinued for some time. AT&T can't even tell me what I am supposed to be getting with mmode or how long it has been discontinued. What a joke of a company! They are morons over there. One minute you are talking to someone in Bopal India, and then they find that American senior citizens are cheaper so now if you call them you get some old granny with a waspy name like Brenda Wilson. It's mind boggling. They make all these claims that the new sim cards wont fit the old phones but if I want to upgrade to a new phone I can't have my old plan.

Anyone who actually thinks these guys are acting in anyone's interests other than the executives needs to follow the money trail through the entire breakup, spinoff and now reacquisition. Money grubbers is all they are, which is fine if they provided a decent product that they would stand behind, but they can't even do that. Screw them!

They could have at least made it easier for us to switch plans. Now they just screw us over even though ATT is still ATT

ONCE AGAIN the new At&t has NOTHING to do with the old ATTWS it was two totaly different companies that has nothing to do with eachother, like Wal-Maer and Target, nothing to do with each other, so complaining that you have to get a new plan when you have been more than accomidated with keeping your old plan for as long as you have, is just childish. GROW UP , be an ADULT and quit crying

You could not be more wrong. They have everything to do with each other. They were the same company several years ago and have just become one company again. The only thing that has changed is less competition and therefore less choice for the consumer. You are out of line telling people to grow up when you don't even know what you are talking about. We didn't make the rules about plan contracts. They did. So now they are the ones crying that they have to offer separate billing for old plans. They are the ones who bought the company knowing all of this ahead of time. Stop being such a corporate peon and get a mind of your own.

Actually, you're the one who is wrong.
The old ATT was called that, ATT.
the new ATT, is ATT Inc. So, what you're saying is ATT Inc (the current company) has to do with Verizon just because they all belonged to the (and I hate how it's called) Ma Bell. Please sir don't talk about things YOU do not know.

icon_neutral.gif icon_neutral.gif icon_neutral.gif icon_blink.gif Let me see if i can DUMB THIS DOWN for you

ATTWS ( AT&T Wireless ) USED to be owned be AT&T land line, ATTWS split off becoming its OWN company no longer having anything to do with AT&T land line.

About 3 years ago CINGULAR ( jointly owned by BELL SOUTH & SBC purchased ATTWS ( that means ATTWS doesn’t exist, none of the plans exist, none of the equipment is made, no more sim cards. IT DOESNT EXIST!)

About 2.5 years after Cingular bought ATTWS, SBC buys AT&T Landline and changed its name to At&t ( notice one is capital the other is not, its that way for a reason ) they then merge with Bell South, CINGULAR now having one owner is then renamed At&t mobility. icon_mad.gif icon_mad.gif icon_mad.gif
