ATT Has Always Been ATT. There Is No Difference, They Are All Owned By The Same Parent Company. The Changing Of Names Is Merely Clever BookKeeping To Avoid Monopoly Lawsuits, Or Other Lawsuits. Take For Instance, When Company A Buys Company B, And Spins Off A Similiar Name To Company B But Not The Same, They Are No Longer Liable For Any Legal Issues Either Company Was Liable For. So Like I Said They've Always Been The Same Damn Crud Company, With The Same Owners, Who Just Switch Names Every Few Years. It's All Clever BookKeeping.

ma bell is just a slang term, not an official name. ATT and Verizon (which was SBC and BellAtlantic, respectivly) are not the same company. Southwestern Bell and BellAtlantic were part as the "Ma Bell" family at one time, but you clearly can tell they are now polar opposites.

ATTWS ( AT&T Wireless ) USED to be owned be AT&T land line, ATTWS split off becoming its OWN company no longer having anything to do with AT&T land line.
About 3 years ago CINGULAR ( jointly owned by BELL SOUTH & SBC purchased ATTWS ( that means ATTWS doesn’t exist, none of the plans exist, none of the equipment is made, no more sim cards. IT DOESNT EXIST!)
About 2.5 years after Cingular bought ATTWS, SBC buys AT&T Landline and changed its name to At&t ( notice one is capital the other is not, its that way for a reason ) they then merge with Bell South, CINGULAR now having one owner is then renamed At&t mobility.
