I'm currently about to switch from Cingular to Verizon, and I'm wondering what is the best phone for the money currently on shelves?
I don't want to spend too much money on one, but I'm willing to pay a few extra bucks for a phone that's truely worth it.

When you say truly worth it, what specifications are you looking for in a device/service plan? Are you looking for a phone that has all sorts of capabilites (mobile tv, vcast video/music, mobile web, camera quality.), or a phone that will have a long life-time with minimal usage? Or a durable phone?
If it were for business reasons, would you need a smartphone or PDA?

We just got 3 from LG - VX8350. They were free for us, and they are rated among the highest for reception and sound quality. They don't look that 'cool', but then neither do I. I value function over form.
