the keys still light up but the screen wont for some reason

yeah its turned on but it still wont work

Jumpscreen, menu, settings, system info. Press menu shift d at the same time. Run the backlight test. What are the results?

Nothing you can do then other than return the phone (if its under warrenty still), file an insurance claim (if you have the insurance) or just get a new phone. Sorry about that.

Does anyone know if you can just replace the LCD if the problem would go away or is this an internal problem with the phone.

no idea on that. im not sure you can buy replacement parts for the sidekick.
