Quick & dirty observation.
Yes, it's faster. A good bit faster. And it's cool to be able to get a call while checking e-mail or looking at a website (I do very little surfing on the phone) It also goes through the battery quicker. I used to get a day & a half on my Razr2 V9. Now I'm lucky to make it to 6pm CST before the low battery warning starts going off (My day starts around 5:30 or 6:00AM). So I used to get around 28 to 30 hours, now it's down to around 12 to 14 hours. I'm not really happy about that. That's why they didn't equip the iPhone with 3G, although they are stating that a 3G iPhone is on the way. I just hope they make the ringtone volume & earpiece volume considerably louder.

I went down to St. Joseph, MO to visit my bestest friend in the world last week and did go 40 miles out of my way (when am I ever going to be there for awhile?) to Kansas City (or at least a suburb) and I FINALLY got to try out 3G! I have an LG Trax and it ran pretty fast. I'm not sure if I experienced it fully considering I was on the edge (lol pun) of the 3G network.I called my friend and I don't know if a smartphone is required or not but I tried to browse the web and it didn't work. The call went through faster than usual and I like that. I drove past KCI Airport and of course I didn't get to try it out cuz I was driving (which sucked lol).but I was excited to see the 3G logo on my phone YAY! Still, almost not worth an extra 50 miles of driving but it was worth it.one of those give or take situations right? Des Moines will NEVER get 3G I know it lol. Even Rhode Island gets 3G service and Iowa doesn't lol. We are supposed to get it before Omaha, though.

Depends on the phone. For example the Nokia 6555 3G UMTS was no faster then my 6131 2G with class 10 EDGE.
