ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THE BACKLIGHT OF MY SIDEKICK 3 WOULDN'T GO ON ANYMORE. THE LADY THAT I SPOKE WITH MADE ME RUN SOME TESTS THROUGH MY PHONE AND LATER ON GAVE UP AND REQUESTED TO SEND ME A BRAND NEW SIDEKICK 3. I TOLD HER THAT I'VE ONLY HAD THE PHONE FOR 3 IN A HALF MONTHS AND IM STILL COVERED UNDER INSURANCE AND WARRANTY AND I DONT WANT TO BE PAYING ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL FEES. SHE WAS A KIND LADY AND TOLD ME THAT SHE WILL SEND A REFURBISHED PHONE FREE OF CHARGE SINCE IM STILL COVERED. SHE ALSO REMINDED ME THAT IF I DONT SEND IN THE DEFECTIVE PHONE I WILL BE CHARGED FULL PRICE. IN THE NEXT WEEK MY NEW SIDEKICK 3 CAME IN AND I FOLLOWED DIRECTIONS AND SENT IN THE DEFECTIVE PHONE.
THEN ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO I CHECK MY BALANCE ONLINE AND IT SAYS I OWE A BILL OF $175(MY BILL IS NORMALLY $75). I CALLED TMOBILE AND ASKED WHERE DID THE $100 CHARGE COME FROM. SHE LOOKED OVER AT MY ACCOUNT AND TOLD ME THAT IM BILLED FOR THE DEFECTIVE PHONE. I ASKED HER IF SHE RECIVED THE DEFECTIVE PHONE AND THEY SAID THEY RECIVED IT. I ARGUED BECAUSE I REMINDED HER THAT ONE OF THE REPRESENTATIVES SAID THAT ITS FREE OF CHARGE. SHE WAS IGNORANT ENOUGH TO SAY "IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT". IT PISSED ME OFF AND I HUNG UP AND CALLED AGAIN. THE SAME LADY ANSWERED AND I REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER. INSTEAD SHE PUTS ON A MALE REPRESENTATIVE INSTEAD OF THE MANAGER AND I ARGUED WITH HIM ABOUT MY CHARGE. HE SAID THAT I GOT CHARGED BECAUSE MY PHONE HAD WATER DAMAGES WHEN I KNW BEFORE THE RESULTS OF THE TESTS THE REPRESENTATIVE MADE ME DO BEFORE PROVED NO WATER DAMAGES. SHE ALSO SAID SO HERSELF "SEEMS TO ME YOU DONT HAVE ANY WATER DAMAGES". I TOLD HIM I WANT PROOF THAT THERE IS WATER DAMAGES AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO PROOF AND THEY THROW OUT THE DEFECTIVE PHONES INSTEAD OF REPLACING IT SINCE ITS CHEAPER. I ARGUED WITH HIM BECAUSE EVERYONE CAN BE SENDING IN DEFECTIVE PHONES WITHOUT WATER DAMAGES AND BE CHARGED FOR WATER DAMAGES WITH NO PROOF. HE RUDELY SAID "THATS NOT MY PROBLEM". TMOBILE CAN BE CHARGING ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR WATER DAMAGES ON THEIR DEFECTIVE PHONES WITHOUT GIVING THEIR CUSTOMERS PROOF THERE REALLY IS. MY BILL IS DUE SOON AND IM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD PAY IT OR NOT, ESPECIALLY HOW THE LADY TOLD ME "FREE OF CHARGE"..

omg are you serious! I was just about to buy a sidekick 3 d-wade off ebay! You saved me, becuase someone once told me the same thing, dont buy sidekicks cuz their screeens never seems to work right. And even on ebay I saw an auction for a sidekick 3 that said defective, backlight won't turn on.
I know you dont wanna hear the same line the lady said
but dude I'm sorry to hear about your problem, you should sue them, or something, I never liked t-mobile!

WELL DID YOU CHECK ALL OF THE LIQUID DAMAGE INDICATORS? ON THE SK3 THERE ARE 3 OF THEM.AND THE REASON WHY THE SUPERVISOR/MANAGER COULDN'T SHOW YOU PROOF IS BECAUSE THE WAREHOUSE INDICATES THAT IT HAS WATER DAMAGE.IT WILL ONLY SHOW ON THE TMOBILE SYSTEM THAT IT HAS LIQUID DAMAGE YOU WILL BE LUCKY IF THE WAREHOUSE PUT A DESCRIPTION ON THERE FOR THE REP TO READ OUT TO YOU.AND IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR OUR CONCERNS OR COURTSEY THEN YOU JUST DON'T HAVE TO BECAUSE WE ARE TRAIN AND IT IS EVERY CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO DO THAT NO MATTER WHO YOU WORKING FOR! ALSO IF YOU MAKE AN EXCHANGE AND DEMAND A BRAND NEW IN BOX PHONE THEN TMOBILE CANNOT! GUARANTEE YOU THAT BECAUSE THE WAREHOUSE SENDS OUT THE DEVICE SO PLEASE STOP BEGGING OR DEMANDING IT.ALSO IF YOU OWN A SK PUT INSURANCE ON IT IF YOU BOUGHT IT FROM CUSTOMER CARE,MYTMOBILE,OR A TMOBILE COMPANY STORE NOT A THIRD PARTY STORE! IF YOU BOUGHT IT FROM TMOBILE THEN THE PHONE WILL HAVE ONE YEAR WARRANTY AND 3 MONTHS WARRANTY ON THE ACCESSORIES.IF YOU BOUGHT IT FROM A FRIEND,THIRD PARTY STORE SUCH AS STORE THAT SELLS OTHER PROVIDERS BESIDE TMOBILE, CRAIGLIST/EBAY,YOU GET THE DRIFT.THEN YOU WILL NOT HAVE WARRANTY ON IT! I am currently experiencing problems with a sidekick 3 that is still under warranty. They instructed me to ship back my sidekick and they would send me a replacement. I shipped it from a ups store and have the tracking number, but tmobile says they never recieved the device. It has been a month, my $300 sidekick is nowhere to be found. I have been told 3 times from Tmobile that they will put some tracking order in and get back with me in 72 hours, never ever ever has t mobile called me back this entire month. When i ask to speak to a supervisor or manager, they just give you another representative. it is worth it to pay the $200 and get out of the contract and switch providers. They offered to add 200 minutes onto my plan in compensation. My tmobile is for my Deaf son and it uses data only with no minutes, tell me how 200 minutes extra is going to help him out. Please DO NOT enter into a contrac with T Mobile. YOu will have nothing but problems

I have had Sidekicks 1, 2, and 3. I am currently using the Sidekick LX. I have had T-Mobile since 2001 and have had absolutely no problems with the warranty exchange.
As for the water damage, have you considered that your sweat can manage to get into the device? That might've been the reason why.
And if you don't want T-Mobile then switch to another provider that will give you headaches. My family has had AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Whenever we call Customer Service for Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T; they gave us headaches. It got to the point where my dad had to contact the FCC to get us out of our contract.
T-Mobile is overall a good company. The only issues I've had have been reception.

i buy a unlocked sidekick3 on ebay, can i use it on verizon?
help?

no you cannot Verizon is CDMA. Sidekick's are GSM
