icon_blink.gif i just got the tilt yesterday 12/24/2007 it is replacing the bb/curve 8310! so the rep told me that i could discontinue my att/air-card and that i could teather the tilt as the modem! the calling plan $59 and then $79 for the completely unlimted text/and moedem usage! "worked great till about 4am" now the tilt is froze up on the widows mobile screen! yes i did the bat/pull-hard reset! then contacted tech/suport! they said to take it back tomarow 12/26 and exchange it! my question is if i pay for unlimted text and the $49 internet,,, why are they charging me an additional $30 to teather? icon_w00t.gif

Using your phone to surf the internet on the phone uses MUCH less data than when you tether it to a laptop/desktop and surf on them. The increase in charge is for that difference.

i have an 8525 and an 8925 and i have the unlimited PDA package but do not pay the teathering surcharge but i have been teathering for over a year now on the 8525 and have never had an issue. I really don't see how the service provider will be able to tell if you are teather or not unless they have an arbitrary amount of transfer that would flag the account.
