I dowloaded music onto my phone successfully. When I want to use it as my ring tone, it will have the artist, when I open it, it says the CD name, then I open it and it says "No Files". Why is this occuring and how can I use my songs as ring tones?
Thanks for the help

you should put it in the music folder, the way it works is that when you put in the memory stick it's the folder that is neither the DCIM [camera pictures] or the mp3 one. instead use that folder i did not mention above and it should have a sub directory of audio and put it in there.
also for ringtones many times it is restricted by size and or file length.

How do you shorten the files to 600kb so I can use them as my ringtone?
Is it done on the phone or computer?
Please Help!

There is a limit of 600kb for you to be able to use a music file as a ringtone in
retarded branded phones like t-mobile and at&t. They do that so you have to buy their ringtones. Capitalism, what can you do.
You can either debrand your phone (use davinci team, they're the best) and get rid of that limit or you can make your own ringtone with a program called audacity (google it). You really won't need anything more than 22 seconds of audio for your ringtone since you're phone only rings for about 20 secs, which is usually around 500kb anyway, so its perfect. I recommend it. You need a separate file to export mp3's with it, but it's all in the instructions at the official site.
Hope that helps

^ -_-" yeah make him pay money to just do smoething he could do for free -.-
if you want to shorten your files to the ringtone length download audicity or goldwave - they're both simple enough and self explanatory once you download them. thsi process is FREE only requires your time.
if you want to reflash your phone and debrand it [probably not the best solution for just getting ringtones to work since it'll cost like $20] go to a store which offers the service, do it through wontan server/da vinci or do it for FREE yourself.
to do it yourself you'll need xs++, more information here at se-nse.net [tutorials too]
